Abstract

Camp et al. performed the first single-cell RNA-sequencing analysis of cerebral organoids, comparing transcriptional profiles to human fetal neocortex at 12–13 post-conception weeks. The study confirmed that organoid-derived neural progenitors and neurons recapitulate key gene expression programs of fetal cortical development, establishing scRNA-seq as a critical quality control benchmark.
