Brain-Vascular Assembloid with Functional Blood Vessel-Like
Source Cakir et al. · Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA · 10.1038/s41592-019-0586-5
Abstract
Cakir et al. generated vascularized brain organoids by incorporating ETV2-inducible endothelial cells that form vessel-like networks expressing blood-brain barrier markers within cortical organoid tissue. This Nature Methods 2019 study addressed the critical organoid limitation of nutrient diffusion and necrotic core formation while providing a BBB model for drug delivery research.
