Abstract

Trujillo et al. demonstrated that cortical organoids develop spontaneous nested oscillatory network activity over 10 months of MEA recording, with patterns resembling preterm neonatal EEG. This Cell Stem Cell 2019 study established MEA-based electrophysiology as a key functional readout for brain organoid maturation and drug screening.
