Self-Forming Optic Cup from Human ESCs
Source Nakano et al. · RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology, Kobe, Japan
Abstract
Nakano et al. demonstrated the first self-organizing optic cup formation from human ESCs using the SFEBq method with WNT inhibition, recapitulating the morphogenetic invagination that generates the bilayered optic cup in vivo. This landmark RIKEN/Sasai lab publication established the foundation for all subsequent retinal organoid research.
