Zhu et al. established the first cerebral organoid model of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder by exposing developing organoids to clinically relevant ethanol concentrations, revealing neural progenitor depletion through premature differentiation as a key mechanism of alcohol-induced neurodevelopmental damage.
