Abstract

Yang et al. identified and characterized KDR+/PDGFRA+ cardiovascular progenitor cells from human ESCs using a staged embryoid body protocol with sequential BMP4, Activin A, VEGF, and DKK1 treatment. These progenitors possess tri-lineage potential, differentiating into cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells, recapitulating key aspects of embryonic cardiogenesis.
