Abstract

Mills et al. developed human cardiac organoids (hCOs) that achieve structural and metabolic maturation through a fatty acid metabolic switching protocol. The resulting compact ventricular muscle organoids form T-tubules, exhibit mature calcium handling, and show positive force-frequency relationships, providing a more physiologically relevant platform for drug screening and disease modeling.
