Abstract

Ronaldson-Bouchard et al. achieved adult-like cardiac tissue maturation through intensity training — progressive electrical stimulation ramping from 0.33 to 6 Hz over two weeks. The resulting tissues develop T-tubules, adult-like gene expression, conduction velocity exceeding 25 cm/s, and positive force-frequency relationships, representing the most mature human cardiac tissue in vitro.
