Abstract

Skylar-Scott et al. developed SWIFT (Sacrificial Writing Into Functional Tissue), where sacrificial gelatin ink is written into a compacted matrix of cardiac organoid building blocks. Gelatin evacuation at 37°C creates perfusable channels that sustain viability in cm-scale cardiac constructs, solving the vascularization challenge for large-scale tissue engineering.
