Abstract

Hinton et al. introduced the original FRESH embedded bioprinting technique enabling multi-material extrusion of alginate, fibrin, and collagen in gelatin support baths. Sequential material deposition creates heterogeneous cardiac constructs with material-specific stiffness zones mimicking the complex mechanics of native myocardium.
